Harford Mutual Insurance Group has made three leadership promotions and a new directorial appointment.
Pauline Bao was elevated to the position of assistant vice president and chief actuary after joining in 2023 as senior director of actuarial. In her new role, Bao will head the actuarial department, taking charge of pricing, reserving, risk management, and analytics.
Bao’s leadership will focus on further strengthening the actuarial function and utilizing her expertise to enhance the underwriting process. Her credentials include time spent at Chubb, where she served as analytics product owner and assistant vice president actuary for cyber within the risk management & analytics group.
Christopher (C.J.) D’Alessio was named assistant vice president of underwriting. In this capacity, D’Alessio will oversee underwriting activities across all divisions, focusing on implementing strategies for sustained growth while aligning practices with the company’s broader objectives.
D’Alessio began his career with Harford Mutual in 2012 as an underwriter and has held several leadership roles, including field underwriting specialist and director of underwriting.
Jillian Taylor was promoted to assistant vice president of finance. With her expanded remit, she will continue to lead the finance team while also taking on the role of branch manager for Harford Mutual’s Midwest office located in Louisville, Kentucky.
Taylor previously held the positions of chief financial officer, treasurer, and VP of finance at Clearpath Specialty, as well as CFO at Lawyers Mutual of Kentucky and financial accounting manager at Kentucky Farm Bureau.
With more than 20 years of experience in finance, Taylor was instrumental in guiding Harford Mutual through the integration following its merger with Clearpath Specialty in August 2023, the company said.
In addition to the promotions, Harford Mutual also welcomed Denise Elias as director of claims, auto, and operations. Elias will focus on refining the company’s auto claims processes and managing updates to its claims system.
Elias comes with over 20 years of expertise in auto claims, having spent 27 years at Westfield Insurance where she held positions including auto claims process manager and auto unit leader.
