Guy Carpenter, the reinsurance broking arm of Marsh McLennan, has announced the hiring of Laurent Rousseau, formerly the CEO of reinsurer SCOR, to a senior executive position that will see him with a Global Capital Solutions remit, including executive oversight of ILS and capital markets unit GC Securities.

Rousseau was most recently CEO of SCOR, having spent 13 years at the France-headquartered global reinsurance firm.

He will take up new senior positions at Guy Carpenter from September 4th, having been hired for the roles of CEO of EMEA and Global Capital Solutions.

The EMEA CEO role will see Rousseau having executive oversight of Guy Carpenter’s reinsurance broking businesses in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India.

As CEO of Global Capital Solutions, Rousseau will also have oversight of the insurance-linked securities (ILS), catastrophe bond and capital markets specialist investment banking arm GC Securities, as well as Guy Capenter’s Global Risk Solutions unit, including the structured risk practice.

Rousseau will be based in London for Guy Carpenter and report to Dean Klisura, Guy Carpenter President and CEO.

He will be expected to drive growth across the EMEA region and support delivering Guy Carpenter’s capabilities and expertise across the Global Capital Solutions remit, to meet clients increasingly complex needs.

Rousseau will also be expected to work alongside the other Marsh McLennan businesses, Marsh, Mercer and Oliver Wyman, to deliver client solutions to solve for interconnected risk, strategy and people challenges.

Guy Carpenter CEO Dean Klisura commented on the hire, “We are excited to have Laurent join our team. He is a seasoned professional and is widely recognized for his (re)insurance expertise.
