Great American Insurance Group has officially announced the promotions of Jonathan M Goldman (pictured above, left) and Kenneth R Nieberding (pictured above, right) to the positions of divisional president, with their new roles becoming effective on July 1, 2024.

In their new functions, Goldman is set to head strategic comp, while Nieberding will take the helm at Great American Risk Solutions.

Who is Jonathan Goldman?

Goldman‘s journey with Great American Insurance Group began in 2005 as an intern, followed by a formal induction into the company’s LEAD leadership development program after completing his college education. He worked in the finance division and for the Republic Indemnity subsidiary before moving to strategic comp in 2013 as a workers’ compensation underwriter.

Over the years, Goldman has ascended through various positions, culminating in his recent role as divisional senior vice president responsible for underwriting and field operations. He steps into the role previously held by Jason Cohen, who advanced to senior vice president for the Property & Casualty Group in February 2022 but will remain as a reporting officer within the organization.

Goldman is a University of Cincinnati alumnus, where he earned a BS in finance and accounting. He also holds the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Reinsurance (ARE) professional designations.

Who is Kenneth Nieberding?

Nieberding’s tenure at Great American Insurance Group began in 1998 as an underwriter within the Property & Casualty Group national accounts division. His career path has traversed various property & casualty divisions, contributing to the company’s operations.

In 2017, Nieberding was instrumental in the merger that led to the creation of Great American Risk Solutions from the former American Empire Surplus Lines Insurance Company subsidiary and the Specialty E&S Division. Prior to his promotion, he served as the chief underwriting officer and managed the division’s actuarial practice.

Nieberding graduated with a BS in accounting from Miami University and holds an MBA from Xavier University.

Nieberding will report to Brian DeSoto, his predecessor who was promoted to divisional group president for the Property & Casualty Group in January 2023.
