Gallagher Bassett (GB) has been named one of the most innovative insurance companies in Australia and New Zealand for 2023.
The Insurance Business 5-Star Insurance Innovators 2023 awards celebrate insurance companies that move the insurance industry forward, whether by introducing new technology or launching a groundbreaking product or distribution channel strategy.
Insurance Business identified the 5-Star Insurance Innovators in Australia and New Zealand by inviting insurers, brokerages, and service providers from both countries to submit a nomination and detail the steps they have taken to introduce new innovations to the industry. The companies were encouraged to focus on initiatives introduced and results achieved in the 2022 calendar year.

In an interview with Insurance Business, GB global vice president Andrew Spilsbury shared that the company is known for “going the extra step,” focusing its innovative efforts on dealing with multiple major catastrophe events and their impacts on people.
“Our support program is designed to provide additional wellbeing support for claimants who have suffered a loss, such as damage to their home or involvement in an accident, and their immediate family members,” Spilsbury said.
Scott Newland, general manager – government and long-tail claims at GB, added: “Our focus on holistic support has led to increased customer satisfaction, improved brand reputation, and strengthened client relationships. By combining internal expertise with external perspectives, we ensure that our innovation efforts align with the actual needs and demands of our clients and the broader market.”
