Fuelling Around podcast: Live from Silverstone with Paul O’Neill, Louise Goodman and Dan Rowbottom

On this extra special episode of Fuelling Around, hosts Jason Plato and Dave Vitty are joined by a live crowd at the Pit Stop Cafe at Silverstone during the penultimate weekend of the 2022 British Touring Car Championship.

And it was only right that we got some very special BTCC guests on the podcast. The boys were joined by ITV presenter Louise Goodman, Halfords Racing with Cataclean driver Dan Rowbottom and former BTCC driver Paul O’Neill, who also stars on Celebrity Gogglebox along with his sister Mel C, to discuss what happens behind the scenes on a race weekend, as well as grudges from the paddocks and women in motorsport.

This was the second time Fuelling Around has been recorded in front of a live audience, and after the success of last year’s event at Motorsport UK’s headquarters in Bicester, we couldn’t resist going on the road again.

BTCC says goodbye to legend Jason Plato

This was also host Plato’s final season in BTCC, a series he joined in 1997. He is the longest-serving driver in the competition’s history and won the drivers’ championship twice in 2001 and 2010 respectively.

He also holds the record for the most race wins, with 97 in BTCC history – a whopping 34 more than Matt Neal, who has the second most race wins. Plato also retains the record for the most wins at Brands Hatch with 26.
