Fuelling Around podcast: Brian Johnson on his legendary career with AC/DC and his epic car collection
AC/DC frontman and music royalty Brian Johnson is the second guest on series six of award-winning podcast Fuelling Around with hosts Jason Plato and Dave Vitty.
Johnson, who took over as the lead singer of one of the world’s biggest bands in 1980 following the death of Bon Scott and helped to co-write Back in Black, the second best selling album of all time, chats to the boys all about his car collection and going on tour.
The 75-year-old who now resides in Florida, detailed his amazing car collection to a very jealous Plato and Vitty. “I got my dream car about 15 years ago, a Rolls Royce Phantom, the first one when they looked good,” Johnson proclaimed.
“And I drive it like I stole it. It’s the best car I’ve ever had! It’s just 12-cylinders of pure joy. It’s great, it’s comfy and you always have a smile on your face when driving.
“I still enjoy the noise of a Ferrari though more than anything. I don’t know why, there’s just something about it, I just can’t help it. You sit in a Ferrari and you turn the engine on, that’s when you know you’re in heaven.”
Brian Johnson on his fantasy drive
Elsewhere on the podcast, Johnson detailed his ultimate fantasy drive. Despite having driven some of the world’s most luxurious cars, there’s always been one that has evaded him.
“I’d probably say a low-chassis Invicta is the car I’d want to drive and I’d be listening to, and I’m not trying to be funny or make a pun out of this. One of my favourite songs to listen to when I’m driving is Low Rider by War. And I would love to do that whilst driving in Amstel, Austria, which is so beautiful and so stunning.”
