He will lead the firm’s growth in Asia

The Ardonagh Group has announced the appointment of the former Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) Asia Pacific CEO Mark Mitchell as its new executive director in Asia. Mitchell has 35 years of experience in the industry and a total of 25 years working within the Asian insurance market.

“Mark’s deep knowledge of the Asia Pacific market landscape will allow us to identify and execute on the best opportunities to drive growth and create value for our clients and markets alike,” said Ardonagh Global Partners chief investment officer Des O’Connor.

“He will further strengthen our team and proposition in this exciting region, which is currently one of the fastest growing insurance markets in the world.”

Who is Mark Mitchell?

Prior to his new role, Mitchell was a part of AGCS for more than 11 years and has held numerous important roles such as CEO in Greater China, regional CEO of the Asia Pacific and CEO of the Singapore branch. He is also a board member of the Allianz Fire & Marine Insurance Japan Ltd and the National Insurance Company Berhad since October 2014. He was also a board member for Alalamiya for Insurance from 2010 to 2012.

Mitchell served as the RSA’s CEO Singapore and CEO Specialty Asia & Middle East in 2008. He began his career as regional property, engineering and marine manager in Chubb in 1999.

In his new role, Mitchell will be based in Singapore and will work with Ardonagh’s businesses in the region, which are Envest and Price Forbes. He will be exploring opportunities to expand the businesses’ retail and wholesale broking footprint as well as develop new MGA capabilities.
