FMG reveals four new members of executive team

FMG has revealed four new members of its executive leadership team shortly before entering the new year – chief claims officer Kim Grooby (pictured above), chief insurance officer Alex Johnston, head of strategy Darrin Bull, and chief marketing officer Matt Harvey.

Grooby is a veteran of the insurance sector, having held a range of senior leadership roles across Suncorp and IAG. These include executive manager business transformation, general manager claims, executive manager earthquake strategy, head of strategy and portfolio (technology), and programme director. According to FMG, Grooby has strong experience in change management and process development and has an excellent understanding of technology in an insurance context.

Johnston (pictured directly above) brings more than 20 years’ general insurance experience to the mutual insurer, having been a previous manager of actuarial funding and advice at ACC. More recently, she was national manager for personal pricing and analytics at IAG, where she led the team through significant industry change following the Christchurch earthquakes. Johnston has previously worked for several large UK insurers, including Direct Line, Norwich Union, and AXA Insurance. She holds a master of science degree in statistics from Otago University.

Bull (pictured directly above) shifted his focus to strategy and business transformation after 12 years with the ASB Group in product management and development. Most recently, Bull provided independent strategy consulting for various organisations across New Zealand and Australia. He is a justice of the peace and chairperson of ADHD New Zealand, an organisation that focuses on improving outcomes for the ADHD community.
