FMG has announced its decision to implement Guidewire InsuranceSuite on Guidewire Cloud to enhance its core business functionalities.

Guidewire provides a platform for property and casualty insurers, integrating digital, core, analytics, and machine learning capabilities through cloud services. Over 540 insurers across 40 countries use the software, ranging from new ventures to large organisations.

This transition is expected to streamline FMG’s IT operations, allowing the company to respond more swiftly to market demands and customer requirements, thereby supporting its growth trajectory.

FMG chief executive officer Adam Heath said the migration will help the company’s people meet client needs amid challenging times.

“In 2023, Cyclone Gabrielle and the Auckland Anniversary Weekend floods combined to represent the largest claims event in FMG’s 119-year history. Honouring our promises to clients and helping them get back on their feet when the unexpected happens is what we are here for. Having the Guidewire system to lean on helped our employees across the Mutual respond effectively to our client’s needs in extremely challenging circumstances,” Heath said. “Our move to Guidewire Cloud will not only enable FMG to meet continuously evolving client expectations and changes within the New Zealand/Aotearoa insurance market; it will also provide important capability, enabling FMG to respond quickly and effectively when we inevitably face another insurance event of scale.”

Guidewire vice president for Asia Pacific Geoffrey Dirago expressed enthusiasm as the partnership between the two companies extends.

“We are privileged to support FMG’s strategy of applying technology innovations to deliver better outcomes for both New Zealand’s farming community and FMG’s dedicated staff,” he said. “FMG approaches this from an already impressive starting point, and I’m excited to deepen our 12-year partnership in service of the farmers and growers of New Zealand.”

FMG sponsored one of the scholarships awarded by Fidelity Life this year. Valued at a maximum of $5,000 each, the scholarships aim to help exceptional candidates from underrepresented demographics within the industry.
