First Look: 2025 Triumph Speed Twin 900

2025 Triumph Speed Twin 900

Entry-level modern classic roadster gets tech and chassis updates, here’s your first look at the 2025 Triumph Speed Twin 900…

We covered the new Triumph Speed Twin 1200 last month, and now we’ve got a new 900 version, just released by the Hinckley firm.

It’s what Triumph calls a ‘significant’ update, with new styling, a latest tech injection, and premium running gear, including Marzocchi suspension and more powerful brakes with a radial front caliper.

The styling is the first thing you notice though. There’s a new reshaped 12-litre fuel tank with sharper side panels, redesigned throttle body covers, and fresh looks for the mudguards, fork protectors and engine casings.

There are new cast aluminium wheels with a smart dual-spoke design, and a slimmer rear frame, with new exhaust and footpegs. A redesigned dual seat gives a roomier riding position and there’s a new LED headlight and brackets.

The new model comes in three new colours: white with blue and orange, black with grey and silver with red accents.

On the electronics front, there’s now lean-sensitive cornering ABS and traction control, with a new colour LCD TFT dash, compatible with optional Bluetooth comms module and integrated heated grips. Cruise control is also an option, while the onboard charging socket is now a USB-C unit.

The old bike had decent handling, but Triumph’s uprated the running gear for 2025, as part of its general switch to Marzocchi suspension on its main models. So there’s a new Marzocchi upside-down front fork, paired to twin Marzocchi piggy-back rear suspension units with preload adjustment.

These are mounted to a new stiffer and lighter aluminium swingarm that is claimed to ensure responsive handling. Kerb mass is unchanged at 216kg, arguably still on the chunky side for the power and capacity, and the old axial-mount front caliper is swapped for a radial-mount four-piston, albeit a Triumph-branded part instead of Brembo. Tyres are excellent Michelin Road Classics.

We’ve not mentioned the engine as yet – because it’s unchanged from the 2024 model. So you get the liquid-cooled 900cc parallel twin with 270° firing order, eight-valve SOHC head and five speed gearbox, making 64bhp. It’s a solid unit, and makes more than enough power for the intended sector: first big bike owners, and older riders looking to downsize.
