Fidelity Life, New Zealand’s largest locally owned life insurer, has bolstered its data and analytics division with the appointment of Giselle Baker (pictured) as head of data analytics. Baker’s new role sees her returning to Aotearoa after spending more than two decades overseas.

In this new role, Baker brings with her more than 10 years of financial services sector experience, in addition to strong technical and leadership skills plus a great understanding of regulatory reporting.

According to her LinkedIn, Baker previously worked in the UK as senior director for data and analytics at FTI Consulting. She also spent more than five years at Citi as senior vice president for data analytics and global MI for internal audit. She has also worked at KPMG Advisory, Simpson Carpenter, BMRB, ADC Metrica, and Vodafone New Zealand.

Fidelity Life CEO Simon Pennington said the firm has several data-led projects currently underway.

“Giselle’s experience in leading and developing advanced analytics and reporting for some of the world’s biggest consulting and financial services entities will be invaluable as our new data platform nears completion,” Pennington said. “Under Giselle’s leadership, our Data and Analytics team will deliver improved insights for the entire business and ultimately help us fulfil our purpose to give New Zealanders certainty to enjoy a more rewarding life.”
