Everest Insurance, a division of Everest Group, has hired Stephen Buonpane (pictured) as its first-ever senior vice president of casualty specialty lines and industry practices for North America.

Buonpane will spearhead the expansion of Everest’s casualty specialty lines, encompassing sectors such as energy, life sciences, and environmental. Additionally, he will focus on broadening the industry practices group.

The strategic move aligns with Everest’s objective to diversify its industry-specific expertise, enhancing broker and client experiences across various products.

“I have known Stephen for many years, and he has long been a respected authority in specialized risk management,” Everest Insurance North America’s Bill Hazelton shared.

“Having grown a successful tech-enabled MGU (managing general underwriter) that pioneered innovative insurance products and digital solutions for commercial construction clients, he understands the dynamics and expectations of complex and highly specialized businesses.”

Buonpane brings a wealth of experience in casualty insurance, industry practice development, and cross-selling strategies. His distinguished career includes senior roles at some of the world’s biggest insurance firms.

Notably, he served as executive vice president and construction industry practice leader at Chubb before co-founding Shepherd where he was chief insurance officer.

“Everest’s innovative culture and reputation for underwriting discipline have helped us attract the best talent in our industry, and Stephen is a prime example,” commented Mike Mulray, president of Everest Insurance North America.

“His track record of creating new partnerships, enhancing profitability, and delivering world-class expertise perfectly aligns with our client-first approach and vision to become the market’s preferred casualty and industry practice-focused carrier.”
