Everest Insurance has announced the promotion of Harry Townsend (pictured above) to chief ceded reinsurance officer.
Townsend joined Everest in January as head of ceded reinsurance, International. He came from Liberty Mutual Insurance, where he most recently served as Global Reinsurance Casualty Division Manager.
During his decade at Liberty, he held various roles with increasing responsibility, focusing on underwriting, casualty and specialty reinsurance purchasing, and portfolio management.
In his new role, Townsend will lead the Ceded Re strategy for the global division, based in London, and will report to Mark Maritzen, Everest Insurance global chief underwriting officer.
Maritzen said that Townsend has established a standard of operational excellence across the International Ceded Re business and has increased engagement with reinsurers.
“Everest is focused on deepening our commitment to our global reinsurance partners, and Harry brings both a strong network of relationships and business acumen that will help us expand those partnerships,” Maritzen said.
Other appointments for Everest
In other recent developments, Everest Reinsurance has also announced the appointment of Mayur Doshi as its new head of North America treaty casualty.
Doshi’s experience within the industry also includes roles at Swiss Re and other firms. He spent more than 10 years with Odyssey Reinsurance Company in various positions, with the most recent one being its senior casualty and facultative underwriter.
“Mayur’s business acumen, coupled with the depth of his underwriting expertise makes him the ideal leader to support our continued evolution as a preferred partner,” Everest Reinsurance North America treaty reinsurance head Jiten Voralia said. “He brings a strong vision for the future of our treaty casualty team that will enhance the business and drive success in the years to come.”
Everest Insurance has also hired Stephen Buonpane as its first-ever senior vice president of casualty specialty lines and industry practices for North America.
