Insurance Business Australia (IB) recently revealed the insurance industry’s Elite Women 2023 special report, highlighting female insurance professionals who have achieved outstanding professional milestones and contributed to the insurance industry.

Amanda Bush, group operations manager at Action Insurance Brokers, is one of the winners of this year’s Elite Women awards.

Some of her achievements include:

Delivering an award-winning workplace culture;
evolving performance management methodologies;
mentoring the Action Group’s leadership team to boost leader capabilities; and
creating a foundation of learning and development resources, practices, and tools to deliver technical, leadership, and soft-skill training outcomes.

From aviation to insurance

Bush has been in the insurance industry for 17 years and she previously worked in aviation.

“With aspirations in senior school to be an air traffic controller, I have certainly landed a long way away from aviation,” she said in an interview with IB. “Albeit not on the plan, insurance has provided me the best opportunity in my career. ”

Since the beginning of her insurance career, Bush has focused on being loyal, committed, and hardworking and giving her best effort “plus the extra mile.”

“Engaging in meaningful ways to build trust and forge positive, professional, and productive relationships within the business and the industry has been important to me,” she said. “Sharing knowledge openly has been a focus and extremely rewarding; in doing so, it recognises all the colleagues in my career who have kindly sponsored my learning,”
