Our old friend Doug DeMuro sure has come a long way since the days when he needed his parents to cosign a loan for the Ferrari that jumpstarted his YouTube career. After starting and then selling his ownership stake in Cars & Bids, he was able to buy a Porsche Carrera GT, a car that definitely cost a lot more than that old Ferrari. And what do you do when you buy an incredibly valuable, low-production supercar with an engine that was originally developed for Formula 1? You take it to the track, of course.

It’s a lot more fun to spend a day at the track with your friends, so in addition to also bringing his Ford GT, DeMuro invited three friends to bring their cars, as well. Adding a Lamborghini Murcielago, a Porsche Boxster Spyder and a BMW M5 to the mix definitely makes things more interesting, even if the M5 is an E39 that never stood a chance of winning in the first place. Yes, I said winning. While they didn’t race wheel-to-wheel, the whole point of the video is to see which one can lay down the fastest lap time.

Now, if you’re familiar with Doug’s intentionally amateur filming style, you’re probably not expecting much more than a couple of guys talking to a camera on a tripod and some GoPro footage from the laps. In this case, you’re completely wrong. In addition to renting out Chuckwalla Raceway, he also brought in a professional film crew to shoot the whole thing. The end result is an incredibly well-done film that even people who don’t typically like Doug’s videos will enjoy. It’s just a good, old-fashioned fun watch!

Honestly, it really is so well done, and DeMuro’s on-screen chemistry with his friends is so enjoyable you have to wonder if they made this video as an unofficial pilot for a television show they’re pitching to the networks. If they are, good for them. It would certainly be better than yet another version of Yelling Goatee Man Garage.
