DLA Piper’s new partners in Melbourne and Sydney

The senior lawyer promotions in Australia follow the May 1, 2024, appointments of Sarah Wilson (Corporate, Melbourne) and Cate Martin (Pro Bono, Sydney) to the partnership.

This is part of a global initiative that saw 63 lawyers elevated to the partnership across 37 offices in 18 countries.

“Cate and Sarah are exceptional people and lawyers. They always go the extra mile for their colleagues and clients and are valued for their expertise and commitment to their respective fields,” Matthews said.

Wilson, an experienced mergers and acquisitions lawyer, advises on domestic and international private treaty M&A, corporate advisory, and capital raisings. She has a particular focus on consumer goods, food and retail, and infrastructure sectors, frequently advising clients on strategic M&A transactions.

DLA Piper has advised on more M&A transactions than any other law firm globally for the past 14 years. Wilson’s appointment is part of the firm’s strategy to expand its Australian corporate practice.

Meanwhile, Martin has led the firm’s pro bono strategy across Asia-Pacific for the past nine years. Her work involves partnering with Pacific Island governments, UN agencies, universities, NGOs, and vulnerable communities to improve social and economic outcomes.
