Dale Underwriting Partners, trading as Dale Managing Agency Limited’s Lloyd’s Syndicate 1729, has announced the appointment of Paul Daniel (pictured above) as head of global property reinsurance, effective Oct. 28.
Daniel will be based in London and will report to Ian Bridge, active underwriter at Dale.
Paul Daniel joins Dale from Berkley Re, where he served as head of international short tail treaty. He brings with him over 30 years of experience, having begun his career at G.E. Oatley in 1989 before moving to J H Venton Syndicate in 1994 as an assistant underwriter on treaty and DF property accounts.
He then spent 22 years at Talbot Underwriting, managing property treaty and retro protection programs, and most recently held the role of head of treaty, responsible for property, aviation, and specialty.
Bridge said that Daniel’s extensive experience in navigating the reinsurance cycle and managing treaty portfolios will help Dale further strengthen its position in the market.
“His wealth of experience in successfully navigating the reinsurance cycle with sustained top tier profits will help to further enhance our lead capabilities within the treaty team and position us strongly to build our broker and client proposition to grow this portfolio in line with our strategy,” Bridge said.
This new appointment follows a leadership transition earlier in the year. In March, Dale Underwriting Partners named Will Curran as its head of global property reinsurance.
Curran, who has nearly three decades of experience, previously held leadership roles in global property reinsurance. His most recent position was as active underwriter for Tokio Marine Kiln Syndicate 557, where from 2019 to 2022, he also served as head of reinsurance, overseeing the company’s global reinsurance underwriting operations.
