International re/insurance broker Consilium has announced the appointment of Rori-Leigh Mighty ACII, CIB (pictured above) as its newest partner for the firm’s Cayman office.

Mighty joins the broker’s Cayman team with nearly two decades of expertise in P&C broking, with seven years spent in Jamaica handling large commercial risks and government tenders at two leading brokers. Her most recent role was at Bogle Insurance Brokers, where she served as senior broker for nine years.

Before this role, she also worked at the Cayman Insurance Centre in client services, where she managed an assigned commercial and personal lines portfolio. Previously, Mighty worked as a corporate broker for Thwaites Finson Sharp Insurance Brokers, where she managed over 500 assigned commercial lines policies.

In her new role, Mighty will report to Consilium Cayman managing partner Yaremis Hydes, who joined the firm from Aon.

“We’re delighted to welcome Rori-Leigh to the team,” CEO James Baird said. “She offers an impressive academic and professional record that spans a broad range of P&C, combined with an entrepreneurial drive that is a hallmark of Consilium.”

Last year, Consilium secured its Cayman license, which led to the appointment of a local team to lead the operation while working closely with its London counterpart to deliver “one Consilium”, described by the company as an aligned service that puts clients’ needs firsts.

Baird noted that while the firm has a policy of not putting boots on the ground in other territories, Consilium has a focus in these financial centers and offshore jurisdictions to service the needs of clients without conflict from its core broker client base.

“Our growing team is bringing real service and choice back to clients in the Cayman market,” Baird said. “While its growing economy has created huge opportunities, clients have suffered from a lack of choice, afflicted by consolidation amongst broking firms that has resulted in a limited number of brokers and a restricted pool of capacity.  Consilium is a leading global re/insurance broker that until a few months ago was largely unknown in Cayman.  In just a short time we have firmly established ourselves in the market and our presence is now keenly felt.”
