Chubb Life board chairman Steven Frye is retiring from the role in mid-2023, according to the life insurer. He will be replaced by new chair-elect Paul Brock, who has been a member of the suite since December 2020.

An industry veteran who spent eight years as chief financial officer of the National Bank, Frye has held the board chair position for Chubb Life New Zealand since 2012. He was also appointed the chairman of OnePath after the acquisition of Cigna New Zealand and has been with the firm through its rebranding from Cigna to Chubb New Zealand.

Brock is currently the chair of the risk committee and was previously the chair of the audit committee. According to a news release, Brock is a former chief executive of the Kiwibank Group and was part of the small team that established the group in 2002. He currently serves as the chair of the New Zealand Story Group, Foley Wines, the Massey University Business School Advisory Board, and as independent director of Southern Sky Dairies.

“In moving to the role of Chubb Life NZ Board Chair, I’d like to thank Steven for his leadership and significant contribution to our success,” Brock said. “I’m looking forward to the opportunities we have ahead of us together as we continue to grow and ensure that all New Zealanders have access to quality financial advice and insurance protection that’s right for their needs.”
