The Centennial Bermuda Foundation has announced the addition of Michelle Smith to its board of directors.

Centennial operates as a private philanthropic entity that funds a variety of initiatives and scholarships throughout Bermuda. Smith joins the foundation’s board with three decades of experience from the reinsurance sector.

Smith has held key roles in several leading companies, including her positions as chief financial officer and chief operating officer at Arch Reinsurance. She also served as chief transformation officer at Arch Capital Group and is currently a non-executive director at Conduit Re. She was also named a fellow of the International Women’s Forum.

Beyond her corporate experience, Smith is actively involved in supporting economic development and educational opportunities in Bermuda. She has assisted in legislative efforts aimed at job growth and is the chair of the Association of Bermuda International Companies Education Awards.

“We are honoured to welcome Michelle to the board as we advance our work in the community with equitable and accessible grant making,” said Centennial chair Tom Conyers. “We value her experience and her thoughtful and strategic contributions for 2024 and beyond.”

In addition to her new role, Smith has been actively serving on Centennial’s economic participation review committee since 2020. She will now also lead as the chair of the economic participation committee and join the nominations and governance committee.
