Independent insurance distribution firm BRP Group, Inc, is charting a new course for its growth trajectory through strategic executive appointments. In a significant move, the company has named Dan Galbraith, the chief operating officer, and Jim Roche, the chief insurance innovation officer, as co-presidents, giving them shared firmwide responsibilities to steer BRP Group through its next phase of expansion.

According to a news release, Galbraith and Roche will not only continue in their roles as chief operating officer and chief insurance innovation officer, respectively, but will also serve as chief executive officers for their respective domains within the organization.

Galbraith’s role as president for BRP and CEO for retail brokerage operations encompasses key segments, including the insurance advisory solutions (IAS) and the Medicare and Mainstreet personal insurance businesses within the Mainstreet Insurance Solutions (MIS) segment. Meanwhile, Roche takes on the role of president for BRP and CEO for underwriting, capacity, and technology operations, overseeing businesses in the underwriting, capacity, and technology solutions (UCTS) segment, along with the Westwood operations of the mainstreet insurance solutions (MIS) segment.

Effective immediately, these promotions mark a pivotal moment for BRP Group, the news release said. Both Galbraith and Roche will report to Trevor Baldwin, the chief executive officer of BRP Group, Inc.

“As we move forward with our strategic roadmap, we are deepening our focus on execution and strengthening our team dynamic to foster sustained high performance in this next phase of BRP’s growth,” said Baldwin.

The decision to appoint co-presidents with shared responsibilities is a deliberate strategy to leverage the wealth of experience and expertise that Galbraith and Roche bring to the table, according to Baldwin.

Leading the organization to growth

The news release said Galbraith’s journey with BRP Group began in 2019, when he assumed the role of chief operating officer. His tenure was described as being marked by remarkable achievements, including leading the company’s expansion in retail broking just before its 2019 initial public offering. Galbraith spearheaded the integration of 41 partner firms, successfully built a national platform, and implemented BRP’s specialization strategy across the commercial risk management, employee benefits, and private risk management lines of business.

In addition, Galbraith played a key role in designing and implementing a sustainable shared services infrastructure. This infrastructure provides vital support to BRP’s operating businesses, enhancing executional effectiveness and achieving economies of scale.

Roche, who assumed the role of chief insurance innovation officer upon joining BRP in 2019, has been instrumental in driving exponential growth in the firm’s Managing General Agent (MGA) of the Future, according to the news release. He also played a vital role in developing and embedding digital insurance operations, including Millennial Specialty Insurance (MSI) and Westwood.

Under Roche’s leadership, the platform has witnessed substantial expansion, offering services catering to both commercial and personal insurance segments. Notably, he led BRP’s foray into reinsurance broking with the introduction of Juniper Re.
