The industry event of the year is closing in: the 2023 Insurance Business Australia Awards! Time is running out to book a table so you can kick back in a festive spirit and enjoy the celebrations with your friends and colleagues.

On Sept. 15, Australia’s insurance industry elite will gather for this black-tie, gala evening at The Fullerton Hotel in Martin Place. The National Trust regards this building as “one of Australia’s most beautiful.”

You can register here to reserve your seat or table. The glitz and glamour includes a pre-awards red carpet cocktail reception, dinner banquet, the awards ceremony and an evening of live entertainment and dancing.

Twenty-five awards categories

This year’s hard work from brokers, insurers, underwriters and authorized representatives (ARs), both firms and individuals, will be recognized across a total of 25 prestigious categories.

In early July, after an arduous selection process, Insurance Business announced the 2023 excellence awardees. Click here to see the shortlist of the performers who came out on top in each awards category.

A single winner from each shortlisted category will be announced and honoured on the big night.

QBE is sponsor of the 2023 Broker of the Year Authorised Representative

QBE is sponsoring one of the broker awards.

“QBE is delighted to sponsor the prestigious 2023 Broker of the Year Authorised Representative award,” said Steve Talbot (pictured immediately below), head of Q nect partnerships at QBE Australia Pacific. “As our Q nect model is specifically designed to help our authorised representatives and brokers achieve their business ambitions, we’re proud to be part of this recognition and look forward to celebrating with our partners.”

This broker award is judged based on criteria including client retention, customer service proposition, lead generation and contribution to the insurance intermediary channel.

Event Partner: UAC

This year’s Awards Premium Partner is the Underwriting Agencies Council (UAC).

“UAC is proud to sponsor the Underwriting Agency of the Year award,” said CEO Jenny Bax. “The recipient represents the pinnacle of professionalism in client service and underwriting across the many underwriting agencies operating in the Australian market.”

The representative organisation for Australia’s agencies, a longtime supporter of the event, is also sponsoring a second award: Underwriting Agency BDM of the Year.

Meet your host: Merrick Watts

The awards will be hosted by comedian, radio and television presenter, Merrick Watts (pictured immediately below). Watts is probably best known for his stand-up comedy performances and his role as one half of the comedy duo Merrick & Rosso (Tim Ross). He’s a regular on Australian radio. In 2020, Watts also took part in a physically and psychologically demanding training course for his appearance in Channel 7’s SAS: Australia.
