Specialist re/insurance broker BMS Australia (BMS) has announced the launch of its new agriculture business, appointing Ceri Martin to spearhead the division.
The initiative is said to be part of BMS’s broader global strategy to deepen its expertise in specialty lines across its chosen markets.
Who is Ceri Martin?
Martin (pictured) brings a breadth of experience to BMS, having previously worked at Nutrien, an international farming services firm.
Her career spans roles in property underwriting, the establishment of a farm broking portfolio, and agricultural risk advisory, with experience in Brisbane, the Northern Territory, and Toowoomba/Western Downs. Her background combines agricultural expertise with strong foundations in accounting and finance.
Martin expressed her excitement about her new role: “The landscape of Australian agriculture has significantly shifted and, as farming becomes more sophisticated, digital agriculture is becoming increasingly crucial. There is a need to support our farmers as they navigate these changes, safeguarding their farms and addressing a market gap.”
She added that BMS will enable her to continue developing her expertise in agricultural insurance.

BMS noted a myriad of challenges currently facing farmers, from climate change and sustainability issues to complex supply chains.
The Agriculture division will provide a range of solutions. Offerings will include:
disease insurance;
carbon insurance solutions;
weather insurance; and
traditional property and casualty insurance products.
BMS Australia CEO Andrew Godden said the group sees substantial growth potential in the agriculture sector.
“We are truly thrilled to announce the launch of our agriculture division, and there is no one better suited to lead it than Ceri. As a growing specialty retail broker, which understands the importance of building close relationships with our clients, we see numerous opportunities to expand into agriculture and collaborate with farmers across Australia,” he said. “Ceri brings a wealth of knowledge and experience which seamlessly aligns with our objective of adding the highest quality practitioners to the BMS family. We are confident that, under her leadership, the business will continue to grow and expand.”
Martin has started work with clients across the country, and BMS Australia plans to expand its client base and team in response to growing demand.
