Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has selected Angela Meyer to become the head of product liability in North America.

Meyer first came to BHSI in 2014 as a senior underwriter. She has since assumed increasingly senior positions within the company’s North American casualty business, recently serving as head of life sciences. As head of product liability, she will continue to be based in Atlanta.

“Angela has played a pivotal role in building our casualty business since BHSI’s beginning a decade ago,” said Bill Smyth, senior vice president, casualty.

“In her new role, her exceptional technical skills and commitment to customizing solutions will serve our product liability customers and brokers well in an evolving marketplace.”

Meyer has over 20 years of insurance industry experience. Before joining BHSI, she also held underwriting roles at Tower Group Companies and Argonaut Group.

BHSI’s North American business provides product liability, discontinued products, and IBNR coverage across various manufacturing and distribution classes.

Meyer’s promotion comes after BHSI named Jean-Francois Leandri as global risk control officer in August. Leandri joined the firm in 2020 as a risk engineering manager in France.

Earlier this year, BHSI also named Paul Emerson as head of customer and broker engagement in Canada. He assumed the role while retaining his position as the country’s senior vice president and head of third-party claims.
