Specialty insurer Beazley has picked Paul Bantick (pictured left) to replace Bob Quane as chief underwriting officer, while Bethany Greenwood (pictured right) has been named chief executive of Lloyd’s managing agency Beazley Furlonge Limited.
With immediate effect, the internal appointments follow Quane’s retirement and will also see Greenwood take on the role of chair of Beazley’s London wholesale management committee. At the same time, the Marsh alum is retaining her position as group head of specialty risks.
Bantick, meanwhile, will remain in charge of the cyber risks division at Beazley until a new group head of cyber risks is installed.
“Paul is an outstanding insurance leader – he has driven the growth of our own cyber business and been a leader in the ongoing development and maturation of the marketplace,” said Beazley CEO Adrian Cox.
“I want to thank Bob Quane for his contribution to Beazley, particularly for his focus on the development of our forward-looking view of climate risk, which has been key to the ongoing, profitable growth of our property business.”
Cox was equally appreciative of Greenwood’s expanded role, saying: “Bethany has an enviable track record, during her five years at Beazley, of growing and diversifying our product offerings through innovation and building strong trading relationships with broker partners, and I am delighted she will be bringing her expertise and dynamism full-time to London.”
Greenwood is from Beazley’s Boston office, while Bantick has been with the UK operations since 2005. The new CUO worked at WTW more than two decades ago.
“It is pleasing to note that at Beazley we have an outstanding talent pipeline and strong process of succession planning, which means we are able to appoint high calibre leaders, such as Paul and Bethany, from our in-house team,” added Cox.
