Barb Street joins InsureLine as VP, Underwriting Operations

PORT COQUITLAM, BC, JUNE 20, 2024/insPRESS/ – InsureLine is excited to announce the appointment of Barb Street, Vice President Underwriting Operations at InsureLine Solutions Inc.

“We are thrilled to have another senior and experienced Commercial Lines professional join our leadership ranks,” said Aly Kanji, CEO and President of InsureLine. “We are constantly on the lookout for the best and brightest in the industry. In this case, we were specifically looking for someone to work directly with our franchise partners to help nurture their commercial opportunities and to build out our program business within our internal MGA, InsureLine Solutions. Barb is a welcome addition to the team!”

Upon completion of her fundamental courses at UBC in 1997, Street began her insurance career knocking on nearly every brokerage door on Vancouver Island with the hopes of finding a job. Her perseverance paid off when she landed an entry level job with a small brokerage which was acquired within months. “Experiencing an acquisition first-hand gave me unique insight into the psyche of employees, sales reps, and clients that have been affected by consolidation,” Street shares. “I was lucky enough to work quickly through all aspects of personal and small commercial products, hustling and appreciating the independent broker model. This idea of preserving independent brokerages is what drew me to InsureLine.”

Street brings nearly 3 decades of knowledge with her to InsureLine, including commercial and executive leadership experience. Her previous role as Director of Commercial Service with Western Financial Group had her oversee large commercial programs which were run through centralized operations in Winnipeg.

“I hope to not only grow our commercial MGA but create an arm that is highly specialized,” Street declares. “This comes from creating real connections with our franchisees to ensure we have the appropriate capacity for them to be able to properly place their risks. Ultimately, our main objective is to make it easier for franchisees within our network to win and place commercial business, and to assist them in placing complex commercial opportunities that they may not have the expertise or markets to write on their own.”

Street will work alongside Dawn Ladds, VP Commercial Operations, to grow a robust commercial operation, cultivate market relations, and strengthen the InsureLine Solutions offerings.
