Arti Rawal has joined AXA XL in Canada as chief underwriting officer for the insurer’s newly created middle market unit in the country.

Prior to joining AXA XL, Rawal served as vice president of middle market for the Ontario region at Zurich Canada.

With over two decades of industry experience, Rawal has held various positions across multiple business lines such as construction, excess and surplus, and the middle market in both Canada and the US. She has previously worked with CNA Insurance and Travelers Canada.

“Arti’s strong market relations and experience in building teams, developing products, and managing a profitable business will be instrumental as we look to build our business in Canada,” Waters said.

Aside from Rawal and Barker, recent appointments at AXA XL Canada also include client & distribution head James Lee.

At the time, Americas chief client & distribution officer Matt O’Malley stated: “At the heart of our strategy is the relentless pursuit of our clients’ growth.

“We are reshaping our organizational structure to place an even stronger emphasis on the needs of our clients, and the roles assumed by Alex and James are pivotal in driving this client-centric vision forward.”

Americas large commercial head Donna Nadeau added in June: “These appointments underscore our unwavering commitment to serving our clients with excellence and innovation. We’re excited about the opportunities ahead as we continue to enhance our offerings and strengthen our presence in Canada.”
