Partnership formed as airline expands route network

AXA Hong Kong and Macau and HK Express Airways have formed an exclusive insurance partnership, marked by a recent kick-off ceremony.

The collaboration aims to offer HK Express customers a simplified travel insurance process with customised protection.

With this partnership, HK Express customers can now purchase travel insurance with a single click when booking flights on the airline’s website.

The “HK Express Travel Insurance” product by AXA Hong Kong and Macau includes several tailored benefits for HK Express customers. These include:


coverage for medical expenses up to HKD500,000
baggage and personal belongings up to HKD6,000 (doubled for travel to Japan)
rental car excess up to HKD3,000 (also doubled for Japan)
free coverage for children traveling with their parents
complimentary virtual medical consultations and medicine delivery services in selected cities in Japan

Kenneth Lai, chief general life insurance officer at AXA Hong Kong and Macau, said the partnership with the airline enables the insurance giant to offer a seamless travel experience.

“AXA has been actively expanding its insurance ecosystem and is committed to being a true partner for our customers. We collaborate with leading partners from different industries and strive to offer more personalised and tailored coverage. We understand that the demand for travel insurance has become more diverse. Thus, we hope to bring a seamless travel experience to our customers,” he said. “As AXA’s inaugural Hong Kong-based airline partner, the partnership allows HK Express customers to effortlessly book flights and buy travel insurance through its all-in-one platform. Looking ahead, we will continue working with HK Express to explore products with comprehensive coverage and bring innovative solutions to the market.”

HK Express Airways expands route network

Since 2013, HK Express, a member of the Cathay Group, has been Hong Kong’s only low-cost carrier, operating 34 aircraft across 25 routes. It is expanding its fleet and route network, having already added four new destinations this year, with more to come.

The partnership between HK Express, AXA Hong Kong and Macau, and AXA Partners encompasses all markets served by the airline, including Mainland China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan China, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

HK Express CEO Jeanette Mao said the airline aims to provide flexible options for travellers to tailor their trips.
