Aspen Insurance Holdings has appointed Tony Bishop (pictured) as chief data & analytics officer with immediate effect.

Joining Aspen in 2022 as head of data & analytics, Bishop has already driven significant advancements in Aspen’s data and artificial intelligence (AI) strategy. This includes the launch of Aspen Data Labs and a groundbreaking partnership with Microsoft.

With a robust background in data strategy and execution, Bishop is equipped to design and implement comprehensive data platforms, governance structures, and educational programs within the insurance sector, ensuring optimal data utilization across all levels.

Alongside his ongoing responsibilities overseeing Aspen’s data and analytics strategy, Bishop will now also lead Aspen’s newly established Data Labs and architecture as part of the company’s ongoing digital transformation efforts. He reports to chief operating officer Rob Houghton.

“Tony’s appointment comes at an exciting time for Aspen,” Houghton commented. “Under Data Labs, we will be able to make the most of the power of data and AI to improve our customer experience, optimize our operations, and drive innovation across our business.

For Bishop, “it has been a pleasure” working with what he described as talented and motivated colleagues.

He noted: “The commitment and determination from all levels to embrace data and find ways to improve the way we do business has been inspiring.  With everyone pulling in the same direction, it enables us to execute quickly and take advantage of new technology.
