Ascot Group (Ascot) has announced the appointment of Dane Lopes as the head of US partnership engagement & strategy.

Ascot US chief executive officer Matthew Kramer stated that, with Lopes’ appointment, the firm will continue fostering its relationships with US partners.

“Dane is a seasoned distribution professional and well-versed in the market. His proven leadership skills, deep relationships across multiple distribution channels in the specialty market, and decades of experience implementing a customer-focused distribution plan, will enable us to profitably grow our business where we see strategic opportunity,” he said. 

Who is Dane Lopes

Prior to joining Ascot, Lopes was with Vantage Risk as its chief commercial officer where he oversaw its commercial strategy, which included broker and client engagement, business development, and marketing initiatives. Before that, Lopes served with Everest Re Group as its chief commercial officer for its insurance division as well as its group chief communications officer.

Lopes has also held roles at Swiss Re, Global Asset Protection Services, and General Electric, Industrial Risk Insurers such as positions in senior distribution, marketing, and sales.

Speaking on his appointment, Lopes expressed that he was thrilled to join Ascot’s growth trajectory.

“I am thrilled to join this team of collaborative, inclusive, and entrepreneurial risk professionals. I look forward to leading our experienced Partnership Engagement team members while working closely with our underwriting leaders as we deepen relationships, drive relevance, and deliver solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients across the US,” said Lopes.

In his new role, Lopes will be overseeing all aspects that come with the Ascot US distribution and sales strategy, which will support the platform’s objectives in growth and profitability. He will report to Kramer.
