The Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation (ARPC) has announced the appointment of Cameron Hick (pictured above) as its new head of technical underwriting.

Hick brings extensive experience in underwriting, client, and portfolio management, having worked across multiple geographies in the reinsurance sector.

Hick joins ARPC from Aon, where he served as senior treaty broker from September 2023 to June 2024. In this role, he was responsible for the proactive management and development of the broking team, implementing business strategies, identifying new opportunities, and maintaining strong relationships with key clients and markets.

Before his tenure at Aon, Hick was director and head of broking at Gallagher Re, where he led the broking team and oversaw the creation and execution of broking portfolio business strategies.

Hick’s career in reinsurance spans over two decades, during which he has held various leadership positions. He was previously the director and head of client at Willis Re, where he managed global client relationships and developed client strategies aimed at achieving optimal outcomes.

Prior to that, he also worked at Partner Re in Switzerland as an account executive for global clients, where he was responsible for managing selected global client relationships and coordinating underwriting and negotiation strategies.

Hick’s earlier experience includes a long tenure at Munich Re, where he held multiple roles over a 20-year period, including client manager and head of business planning in Sydney. In this position, he led the non-life client management team, developed market and client strategies, and managed business for nominated clients.
