Aon Plc, whose capabilities are now grouped under risk capital and human capital, has installed company veteran Paul Davies as vice chair to advise on risk capital opportunities.

“I’m excited by the opportunity to offer strategic counsel on how our risk capital capabilities can help our clients protect and grow their businesses,” said Davies, who has been a reinsurance broker since 1961.

The new vice chair owned Reinsurance Agency before it became part of Aon in 1988. Credited for being the founder and chief executive of Aon Reinsurance, Davies later went on to serve as Aon Re Worldwide chair.

“Paul’s tremendous reinsurance experience will enhance our efforts to address fast-growing areas of client need and scale our solutions for clients,” noted risk capital CEO Andy Marcell, who looks after Aon’s commercial risk and reinsurance businesses.

In the new role, Davies will be stepping away from his day-to-day client responsibilities.

Commenting on the appointment, Aon chief executive Greg Case stated: “By any measure, Paul exemplifies what it means to lead a truly remarkable and distinctive career, from Aon’s acquisition of his 35 years ago, to the critical roles he has played leading clients and colleagues during his time with the firm.

“We are all grateful to Paul for his many contributions and look forward to his counsel in this new chapter, as we work together to deliver the full potential of our risk capital capabilities to clients.”
