Aon has announced the promotion of Nick Moore as its new CEO, Bermuda for the Commercial Risk Solutions division, a position that will see him tasked with increasing the uptake of alternative capital solutions for large corporate clients.

Moore has worked at the insurance and reinsurance broking group for almost three decades, in a range of senior roles focused on broking property and casualty risk solutions to commercial and corporate clients.

Most recently he was Aon’s Chief Broking Officer for Commercial Risk Solutions in Bermuda, prior to which he worked as the firm’s Global Excess Casualty Practice Leader in New York.

He began his career at Aon in 1995, prior to which he worked as a broker at Marsh from the beginning of his long insurance market career.

Aon explained that Moore will lead Aon Bermuda’s Commercial Risk Solutions broking operations and will also have oversight over its Bermuda-based commercial risk claims team.

In addition the broking firm said, “He will drive innovation, risk transfer capacity and alternative capital solutions to best serve the needs of Aon’s large global client portfolio.”

The use of alternative capital solutions for large corporate and commercial clients is seen as an increasing opportunity, with third-party capital sometimes able to fill gaps in large insurance towers, or offer complementary or cost-effective alternatives to traditional insurance capacity.

With Bermuda the home of managers commanding a significant proportion of global insurance-linked securities (ILS) sector capital, it’s a natural location for Aon to seek to drive innovation in the use of alternative capital for commercial risks.
