Aon appoints cyber solutions head for Australia and region

Report proposes 'self-funding' insurance model for export industries

Aon has appointed Adam Peckman Head of Cyber Solutions Asia Pacific to drive the growth of its business in Australia and the region as well as address new exposures in cyber security arising from the digital evolution, the broker announced today.

Mr Peckman, who is based in Singapore, has commenced his new role and also retained his existing position as Global Head of Cyber Risk Consulting practice to provide governance and strategic direction for cyber consulting resources in the Americas, the UK, EMEA, and Asia Pacific.

Aon says under his leadership, its Cyber Solutions in Asia Pacific will bring together cyber broking, security advisory, incident response and risk consulting capabilities across Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

Mr Peckman has outlined his growth plans for the business, with a focus around “strengthening collaboration” across Aon’s cyber teams.

“At Aon, we are building these capabilities – around our Cyber Loop model – to deliver more integrated solutions to meet the complex needs of clients,” Mr Peckman said.

“Our focus on strengthening collaboration across the cyber solutions teams in Asia Pacific and globally will ensure we bring the best of our cross-functional capabilities to guide clients through the growing challenges of cyber security.

“Our integrated cyber portfolio will deliver the analysis, insights and solutions across the region to empower our clients to build sustainable cyber resilience amid increasing volatility.”

He says cyber risk cannot remain an IT issue and that an “enterprise-wide strategy” is required to address the challenge.

“Only two in five businesses are ready to navigate new exposures arising from the rapid digital evolution we’ve witnessed across all industries in the past 24 months,” Mr Peckman said.

“There is nothing linear about cyber security and every organisation needs an adaptive and ever-evolving model to approach cyber risk.”

Mr Peckman joined the business in 2011 and has held a number of senior roles in London and New York, including setting up Aon’s first cyber consulting practice in 2016 as the global practice leader.

His experience includes corporate governance, enterprise risk management, security risk assessments and quantification, as well as insurance strategy.

“We are thrilled to have [him] in the region and leading our continued growth in this market,” Head of Commercial Risk Asia Pacific Tracy-Lee Kus said.

“The enormity of cyber risk has never been greater, and the biggest challenge organisations face is staying informed about the evolving cyber risk landscape. The threats vary widely by industry, size and region.”

She says a region-wide approach means Aon clients will receive “holistic cyber solutions” that address pre- and post-incident, cyber security, risk transfer and incident response.

“Our latest investment in the region reinforces Aon’s leadership in this sector and will enable us to offer differentiated solutions to our clients that help them make better decisions,” she said.
