The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) has announced the roster of speakers for its 5th Annual New Zealand Business Breakfast.

The event is set to take place on Sept. 11 at the Cordis Hotel in Auckland. It will run from 7:30am to 10am.

The panel discussion will address changes in market dynamics, premium adjustments, reinsurance challenges, and future funding needs.

Speakers include Mikayla Dixon, manager of business underwriting solutions at Vero, who will serve as the panel’s moderator, alongside:

Andrew Brooke, managing director of McLaren
Tim Grafton, an independent director and consultant
Adrian Sweeney, general manager of Zurich New Zealand

In addition to the discussion, the event provides insurance professionals with the chance to engage in networking with peers.

ANZIIF CEO Katrina Shanks highlighted the importance of reflecting on the 2023 floods.

“The floods of 2023 are not a once in a 100-year event, and not even a once in a decade event. We have to utilise the floods as a lesson and continually look at ways of obtaining good customer outcomes in the face of change and challenge,” she said.

The Honorary Life Membership Award was given to Megan Beer, group chief operating officer at Resolution Life. She was recognised for her long-standing service to ANZIIF, where she served as president from 2019 to 2021 and as a director from 2015 to 2022.

Siew Wei Chai, corporate authorised representative at Aon, received the E.E. Vines Memorial Prize for her article “Insurance premiums and affordability: How can we curb the cycle of loss and costs?” published in the ANZIIF Journal.
