The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) has moved to bolster its relationships and enhance opportunities in Southeast Asia, according to CEO Katrina Shanks.
As part of its initiative to support the insurance industry in the region, ANZIIF has established three key partnerships.
ANZIIF’s partnerships in Southeast Asia
One agreement was made with Andalas University, involving both a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and an Accredited Training Provider (ATP) Agreement. This collaboration aims to provide pathways for students and insurance professionals in West Sumatra to advance their careers through ANZIIF programs.
Another partnership was formed with the Thai Insurance Brokers Association through an ATP Agreement. This enables Thai brokers to complete ANZIIF’s Executive Certificate in General Insurance Broking and achieve Senior Associate CIP Membership.
In Malaysia, ANZIIF signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement with the Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII). This agreement facilitates the recognition of professional memberships, aiming to elevate professional standards and broaden career prospects in Malaysia’s insurance industry.
ANZIIF’s seminars in Southeast Asia
Shanks also conducted three seminars in Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok on ANZIIF’s new Empathetic Claims Management short course.
These events, which attracted over 4,500 participants, are designed to train claims agents and managers in providing empathetic and trauma-informed service to claimants.
ANZIIF’s webinars in Southeast Asia
In addition, ANZIIF has launched a series of free, weekly webinars intended to offer accessible professional development to insurance professionals around the world.
The organisation said these initiatives align with its commitment to fostering growth and success in the insurance industry.
ANZIIF 2024 awards
ANZIIF also recently held its Annual General Meeting, where awards were given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the insurance industry.
The 2024 Honorary Life Membership, given to those who have demonstrated extraordinary service to ANZIIF over an extended period at the national or international level, was given to Megan Beer (pictured), group chief operating officer at Resolution Life, ANZIIF (fellow) CIP, ANZIIF president (2019 to 2021), ANZIIF director (2015 to 2022).
Other awards given during the meeting are Service Awards, which recognise ANZIIF members who have provided outstanding contributions to the organisation, and E.E. Vines Memorial Prize, awarded annually for the best article by an ANZIIF member.
