Alliant Insurance Services is expanding its benefits presence with the addition of Matt Richard (pictured above left) and Tricia Schmidt (pictured above right) to its Employee Benefits Group. Both appointments are part of Alliant’s strategy to strengthen its regional leadership and expertise.

Richard joins Alliant as vice president, bringing over 20 years of experience in the health insurance industry. Based in Kentucky, Richard has a background in marketing and sales strategy, market analysis, and product development.

Richard’s previous roles include senior vice president at a national insurance brokerage and managing the national accounts team for a major insurance carrier in the Ohio and Kentucky markets. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Utica University and an MBA from Northern Kentucky University.

Kevin Overbey, president of Alliant Employee Benefits, said that Richard’s familiarity with the Ohio and Kentucky markets will add significant depth to Alliant’s Midwest team.

“Alliant continues to focus on providing diverse clients across the Midwest with best-in-class leadership and resources that maximize value and drive growth. Matt’s diverse background and strong regional expertise will further expand our leadership as we grow our footprint,” said Brian Stratton, Alliant Employee Benefits executive vice president.

Schmidt has been appointed senior vice president within Alliant’s Employee Benefits Group, focusing on the Ohio market.

Schmidt has more than 25 years of experience in insurance and employee benefits, specializing in plan optimization, cost containment strategies, and employee engagement.

Prior to joining Alliant, Schmidt served as national enterprise sales leader for a healthcare advocacy firm and held a leadership role at an international insurance brokerage. She earned her bachelor’s degree in theater from Otterbein University and is a noted speaker on topics including private exchanges, international benefits, and wellness ROI.

“Tricia is an innovative, forward-thinking consultant who understands the unique regional dynamics driving the Midwest benefits landscape. Her diverse experience in leadership, business development, and plan design will further expand our reach and offerings within the region,” Overbey said.
