American International Group (AIG) has announced the appointment of Kelly Lafnitzegger (pictured above) as executive vice president and chief human resources and diversity officer (CHRO), effective June 1.

Lafnitzegger joins AIG from GE Vernova, where she led the separation management office since 2022, supporting the company’s spin-off from General Electric. Her prior experience includes various human resources leadership roles within GE’s Corporate, Capital, Healthcare, Global Research, Transportation, and Power divisions.

She succeeds Rose Marie Glazer, who has served as AIG’s chief human resources and diversity officer since Jan. 1, 2022, and is transitioning to the role of general counsel at AIG.

In her new role as CHRO, Lafnitzegger will lead the global human resources organization at AIG, with duties encompassing the alignment of the company’s talent strategy with its strategic and operational objectives.

Her responsibilities will include overseeing talent acquisition and management, learning and development, compensation and benefits, as well as initiatives related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and global corporate citizenship.

Lafnitzegger will report to Peter Zaffino, AIG’s chairman and chief executive officer, and join the company’s executive leadership team.

“Kelly’s 30 years of experience at General Electric, along with her broad leadership track record of developing organizational and talent strategies that align with business objectives will be a valuable addition to AIGm,” Zaffino said. “I am pleased to welcome Kelly as we build on our momentum to become a top-performing global company. Retaining and attracting world-class talent with compelling career opportunities and meaningful professional development and advancement is a top priority.”

In other recent developments, AIG also announced that David McElroy, its chair of general insurance, is retiring on May 1.
