AIA New Zealand (AIA NZ) recently announced its partnership with Jetts Fitness, a fitness center chain, which will add more than 50 24/7 gym locations for members of their AIA Vitality program.

“We’re excited to welcome Jetts Fitness to our group of AIA Vitality partners,” said Ralph Holmes, the head of vitality of AIA NZ.

The AIA Vitality program is a program aimed to help New Zealanders understand the state of their health, remove barriers to better health, and provides incentives in order to help members become more motivated to pursue the improvement of their health through exercise, nutrition, and health screenings.

Through the partnership, members of the AIA Vitality program will be able to receive a 20% discount of Jetts’ All Club 12-month membership. They will also be able to earn up to 100 AIA Vitality Points each time they visit.

Along with this partnership, AIA NZ launched new methods for members to earn AIA Vitality Physical Activity points. They will now be able to earn 25 points if they achieve 5,000 to 7,499 steps throughout the day.

“We want to encourage more people to get active and achieve their weekly Active Rewards target,” said Holmes.

“Research shows that shorter bursts of more frequent activity can be just as effective for our health and wellbeing as doing longer training. The introduction of 25 points for 5,000-7,499 steps reflects our focus on ensuring AIA Vitality is inclusive and encourages people to get moving,” he said.

Members will also get the chance to earn up to 150 points each day for undergoing vigorous exercise.

“We want to reward people who are doing more vigorous exercise with additional points in recognition of the increased health benefits,” said Holmes.

There have also been changes when it comes to the maximum amount of points members can earn in a day.

“We’re also updating the daily points cap to 150 points, up to 15,000 points per year. However, the maximum weekly Active Rewards target will not exceed 500 points, as this aligns with the level of physical activity advised by the World Health Organisation to maintain or improve your physical health,” Holmes said.

Previously, members could only earn 50 to 100 Physical Activity points in a day.

According to the executive general manager of Jetts Fitness, George Reed, the chain was thrilled to partner with AIA NZ.

“We’re committed to creating a community and a culture in which we deliver an outstanding experience every time people walk into the gym, so they can take steps to a healthier life and thrive every day,” said Reed.

“We understand first-hand the positive impact exercise has not only on our physical health, but on our mental health and confidence too. We want everyone to reap the abundance of amazing rewards that come from regular exercise, and now that includes AIA Vitality points too.”
