Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has announced the appointment of a new chief financial officer to its board of management.
Effective Sept. 1, Claire-Marie Coste-Lepoutre (pictured above left), who has served as CFO of AGCS for over four years, will be succeeded by Oskar Buchauer (pictured above right), the current head of Allianz Group Actuarial, Planning and Controlling and group chief actuary. The appointment is pending regulatory approval.
In her new role, Coste-Lepoutre will assume Buchauer’s position at Allianz SE as the head of Allianz Group Actuarial, Planning and Controlling and group chief actuary. This role will involve close collaboration with Allianz Group CFO Giulio Terzariol to lead and oversee key strategic and financial functions across all divisions of Allianz Group, including property-casualty Insurance, life and health insurance, and asset management.
As Buchauer assumes the role of CFO at AGCS, he steps into a significant period for the organisation and Allianz OEs worldwide as they embark on a new chapter as Allianz Commercial. This initiative aims to establish a robust presence in the commercial P&C segment, catering to mid-corp, large-corp, and specialty clients. Buchauer will have direct responsibility for finance on the board of AGCS, overseeing accounting, treasury and tax, actuarial, compliance, finance solutions, global performance steering, and risk management.
“Having worked closely with Claire-Marie for a number of years, I am now delighted to welcome her back to Allianz Group centre, where her combination of international experience and technical knowhow will be a great asset,” Terzariol said. Oskar has done an outstanding job in his current role, and I wish him continued success as CFO of AGCS.”
“Claire-Marie has been a big part of the turnaround and transformation of AGCS in the past few years, and I want to thank her on behalf of everyone at AGCS for her exceptional contribution to all areas of the business,” said Joachim Mueller, CEO of AGCS. “I know we all wish her the very best for the future. A warm welcome to Oskar as he joins AGCS at this exciting stage in our journey, realising Allianz Commercial for the benefit of our customers.”
Coste-Lepoutre joined AGCS as CFO in 2019. In early 2023, she took on the additional role of deputy CEO. Prior to her tenure at AGCS, she served as the regional CFO of Allianz Benelux from 2015. Her previous experience includes leadership positions within the Allianz Group in Munich, where she led the group CFO office and later the business division for France, Benelux, and Africa. Additionally, she has a background as a qualified actuary and has worked at McKinsey & Company and SCOR Reinsurance.
Buchauer has been the head of Allianz Group Actuarial, Planning and Controlling and chief actuary since 2018. He previously served as the chief actuary for Allianz Group starting in 2010 and held the position of chief risk officer for Allianz Italy from 2005. With a background as a qualified actuary, Buchauer has held various leadership and technical roles both within and outside of Allianz Group, encompassing divisional or regional responsibilities, including IT consulting and a local mutual insurer.
In March, AGCS announced the appointment of Gordon Browne as global head of specialty. The same month, the company named Tracy Ryan as chief regions and markets officer for North America.
