WTW has appointed a new head for New Zealand effective early next year.

Succeeding Michael Brown in January 2024 is Jill Comley-Forbes, whose appointment marks a WTW comeback for the key hire. The move comes following Brown’s decision to focus on client-facing work.

“We are delighted to have Jill return to WTW, after working with Willis New Zealand for a period of six years in the early 2000s,” Asia-Pacific head Simon Weaver said in an emailed release. “She is recognised in the market as a highly experienced industry leader, known for her demonstrated results in risk management and risk solutions.

“Jill has an ability to drive success through building culture and engagement, which places her well in leading our WTW New Zealand team to move forward in the next phase of our business growth.”

Comley-Forbes most recently served as broking director at ICIB Brokerweb. Her credentials include time spent at State Insurance, Marsh McLennan, Macandrew Insurances International, and Aon.

Meanwhile Weaver, who is also head of corporate risk & broking for Asia-Pacific, highlighted Brown’s time at the helm of WTW New Zealand.

“Michael’s passion is working directly with clients, delivering unique solutions and client servicing strategies that add value and enable client businesses to grow,” he said. “As he moves into a newly created, client-facing leadership role, I would like to acknowledge the significant contribution that he has made to WTW, especially over the past few years.

“Michael’s stewardship of our New Zealand operations has been inspiring as he maintained a strong focus on our clients, our people, and our business, leading it to a position where we can look forward to accelerated growth.

“It is now an optimal time for a new leader to take the reins. Retaining Michael’s experience and profile within the New Zealand insurance market will be a valuable adjunct for Jill as she positions WTW for ongoing success.”
