HSBC has announced its appointment of Harpreet Bindra as the new CEO of HSBC Life Singapore, pending regulatory approvals.

Bindra will take the helm at the company, where he will be responsible for executing its strategy in the dynamic insurance and wealth market. With over two decades of leadership experience in the insurance and financial services sector, Bindra most recently served as the global head of strategy and business development for HSBC Global Insurance and Partnerships, based in Hong Kong.

In addition to his new responsibilities, Bindra will also continue to be a member of the HSBC Life Global Executive Committee and will also join the HSBC WPB Singapore Executive Committee. His appointment follows the decision of Ho Lee Yen to allocate more time to her family after successfully overseeing the integration of AXA Singapore and HSBC Insurance, thus establishing a solid foundation for the future growth of HSBC Life Singapore.

He joined HSBC in 2018 to spearhead the strategic growth agenda for HSBC’s insurance manufacturing operations across 10 markets in Asia, Europe, and Latin America. He was instrumental in developing strategic partnerships with global insurers in 30 markets.

During his tenure, Bindra has led numerous strategic growth initiatives for the group, including the acquisition of AXA Singapore. Prior to joining HSBC, he held leadership roles in companies such as Prudential Financial Inc., Daiwa Securities, and ING Group, spanning locations in Singapore, Hong Kong, India, and the Netherlands. Harpreet holds a degree in Business Economics and an MBA in Finance and Strategy.

In this new role, he will report to Greg Hingston, CEO of HSBC Global Insurance and Partnerships, and Ashmita Acharya, head of wealth and personal banking (WPB) in Singapore.

“Harpreet’s appointment as the CEO of HSBC Life Singapore comes at a pivotal time when we are investing and growing our insurance and wealth businesses,” Hingston said. “Singapore is a strategically important market for HSBC and we are expanding propositions, channels and platforms to meet the health, protection and wealth management goals of our individual and corporate customers. I am confident that under Harpreet’s leadership, HSBC Life Singapore will realise its potential with best-in-class propositions for our customers across their wealth journey. We thank Lee Yen for her contributions, particularly for facilitating a smooth transition as we combined the two businesses, to position HSBC Life Singapore well for future success.”
