Australian insurtech start-up Covertech Australia (Covertech) has appointed Steve Sloan as managing director.

Sloan has over two and a half decades of experience across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia.

Sloan is currently the CEO of 247 Systems – VIA and an executive at Ausure. In December 2023, he will depart his current role to move to Covertech. He will be based in Brisbane.

“[Sloan’s] successful journey as a founder and digital marketing expert speaks volumes about his ability,” said Covertech CEO CJ Behne.

Other appointments

Covertech also confirmed the appointment of Chris Rouse as a non-executive director. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional and an ISC2 and ISACA Member and has over 20 years of experience in senior IT management, technology, audit, and cybersecurity roles.

“As a non-executive director, we believe Chris’s strategic vision and unparalleled insights will be invaluable in guiding our Insurtech start-up through its next phase of growth and development,” Behne said.

Covertech further welcomed Franz See to the group as its new international CTO, his third CTO role in his career.

See is a tech start-up veteran with 17 years of experience. He has 10 years of global people management experience – leading world-class engineering teams across APAC, the EU, and the US – and has a proven track record of driving tech advancements and spearheading successful product developments.

“We are confident that his expertise will be pivotal in scaling our technology infrastructure, enhancing our product offerings, and expanding our presence in international markets,” Behne said.
