The five best motorbikes for tall riders

post-apocalyptic

While it may seem strange to some, we know if you’re a taller rider that your motorcycle options may be limited, especially if you are looking for a sports bike.

Bikers over six feet can often struggle to find a bike to accommodate their longer limbs. This is because most models are designed to suit riders between 5ft 7in and 5ft 11in due to the average height of men in Europe.

That’s why we’ve compiled a list of the best motorcycles for tall riders, that don’t just include adventure bikes.

Motorcycles for tall riders

Honda CB500X

Adventure bikes have become incredibly popular in recent years and the CB500X by Honda is among one of, if not the, most popular A2 specific bikes on the market. The elongated suspension and higher 830mm seat height makes this bike stand out from the crowd for taller riders.

The twin cylinder CB500X has 47 brake horsepower, is incredibly reliable, spacious, agile and still perfectly nimble for a bike with bigger proportions for loftier riders.

With its extended, adventure-style suspension front and rear, quality digital clocks, 19in, adventure-style front wheel, it provides a slim but roomy 830mm seat height that should find favour with the tallest of riders yet still without feeling intimidating.

The Ducati Multistrada V4’s incredible selling point is that each of its variations offers a seat height that can be adjusted from 33.1 to 33.9 inches, perfect for those riders who aren’t just tall, but are extremely tall. In fact the Pikes Peak version also offers adjustable peg positioning and handlebars, to make the ride more aggressive.

The Multistrada V4 is Ducati’s best option for those looking for an incredibly smooth ride with ample comfort, litre-bike performance, a seat height that reaches 860mm (as well as a special option of 875mm) and versatile machine. Not to mention the 170bhp.

Triumph Scrambler 1200XE

For those looking for a retro roadster, the Triumph Scrambler 1200XE is the bike for you. With its off-road style and upright posture, it  has always been among the retros best suited to taller riders. But the British firm raised the bar significantly when it introduced its latest 1200 versions in 2019.

The Scrambler comes with bigger wheels, longer suspension and higher handlebars to make riding a breeze.

Based on the Thruxton version of the Bonneville 1200, the Scrambler is available in two forms, the XC and the XE, which is designed for riders who also like to go off-road.

Kawasaki ZZR1400

The Kawasaki ZZR1400 is the perfect bike for riders who want a bit more torque and speed for their rides. Taller riders can often feel trapped whilst on their bike, which is why the Japanese manufacturer made sure this one was spacious whilst retaining comfortability.

It is perfect for commuting or as a daily runaround bike. The riding position, handlebar and the power all suit rangy motorcycle riders perfectly.

KTM 1290 Super Adventure

KTM has built a reputation as one of the best when it comes to big adventure bikes that are perfect for off-roading. The KTM 1290 Super Adventure was completely revamped in 2021 and not only performs phenomenally, but it’s also rather aesthetically pleasing too.
