Aviva named General Insurer of the year at the British Insurance Awards
Authored by Aviva
The British Insurance Awards took place on the 5 July 2023 at the Royal Albert Hall in London to bring together and celebrate excellence across the General Insurance industry. The Aviva team were proud to be amongst the big winners picking up three awards, including ‘Customer Care’ and ‘ESG: Sustainability award’.
Topping off the night, our team were thrilled to receive the highly coveted ‘General Insurer of the Year’ title and Aviva’s group CEO Amanda Blanc was awarded the special ‘industry achievement’ award too.
Dave Martin shared his reaction and reflection on the wins;
“I’m incredibly proud of what has been achieved by our teams and partners over the last 12 months. Being chosen as General Insurer of the Year, in addition to the Customer Care and Sustainability awards, means a huge amount to all of us at Aviva. As always, we’d like to take this opportunity to share this success with all our broker partners.
As an industry, brokers and insurers are working to support our customers through a challenging external environment. Building and maintaining strong distribution and trading relationships with our brokers is key to Aviva’s long-term plan.
It takes a partnership and the successes we’re celebrating are only possible with our broker partners. I want to offer a special congratulations to all the broker winners this year, in particular Partners& who picked up the award for ‘Insurance Broker of the Year’. A very well-deserved win.”

About our British Insurance Award wins
Customer Care award
For this award judges recognised our unique work in Claims. Aviva has developed bespoke claims processes to maximise coverage and to pay funds quickly for a global client to enable them to deliver on its humanitarian aid and project commitments around the world when a crisis takes place, lessening the impact of delay in delivery of aid to those most in need.
ESG Sustainability Initiative of the Year
In 2022 Aviva launched an initiative targeted at “helping the UK become the most climate-ready large economy by 2030”, taking the responsibility to support the communities we operate in, who are facing the most challenging sustainability issues. Being ranked as the top insurer by the World Benchmarking Alliance’s 2022 Financial System Benchmark, as well as the first major insurer to co-chair a government taskforce and Aviva renewables being the third largest insurer in the London market, we’re reinventing the wheel and paving the way for sustainability within the general insurance market.
