AA Insurance has won Canstar’s inaugural home and contents insurer of the year award, a distinction that it bagged after posting outstanding value ratings across the insurance line and market-leading scores on five different customer satisfaction metrics. These include customer service, value for money, comprehensiveness, communication, and cost.

In addition to the inaugural award, the New Zealand insurer also won an outstanding value award for the value it provides to clients across its home and contents policies. Canstar New Zealand general manager Jose George said that this research and subsequent award should hopefully help Kiwis make decisions around what insurer offers the best product for their needs.

“Home and contents insurance is an important household purchase. However, insurance can be expensive and there is often cynicism around how well providers will look after their customers if a claim is made,” George said.

Another key factor that helped AA Insurance bag the award was its proactiveness in assessing the risks associated with properties, including those that are more prone to natural hazards like earthquakes or floods. The insurer also encourages customers to check their cover to make sure that climate-enhanced risks are fully considered. Customers with AA Insurance policies also have a wide variety of options to manage their premiums.

AA Insurance general manager for marketing, portfolio, and pricing Richard Park said that home and contents insurance helps people face the impact of the changing climate with confidence, and that the firm took pride in protecting what matters most to their customers.

“The Home and Contents Insurer of the Year Award, and the Outstanding Value Award for our home and contents policies acknowledge the commitment of our teams across the business to provide great experiences for customers,” Park said.

Three other insurers – TradeMe, AMP, and Tower – also snagged outstanding value awards for their home and contents insurance offerings.
