Deloitte launches decarbonization SaaS

Big Four firm Deloitte released a new software-as-a-service tool that guides organizations through decarbonizing their operations.

Called GreenLight Solution by Deloitte, the software uses a modular set of tools that helps organizations reduce their carbon footprint. Businesses can get a more detailed understanding of their carbon footprint across their entire value chain, from production to distribution to product use and disposal.

The cloud-based solution, built on Deloitte’s CortexAI, incorporates a large global data library, including 150,000 emissions factors and 200 real-world tested emissions abatement projects. The platform also includes data automation and transformation capabilities, and leverages a large group of technology providers to integrate with an organization’s enterprise system. It allows access to a global credits and incentives hub covering 16,000 programs in 70 countries to identify tax credits and incentives by category, solution or geography.

Beyond the software’s data analysis and forecasting capacities, it aids in scenario planning and provides a range of adaptive and optimized solutions for companies. The tool takes into account the specific requirements and circumstances of each business and suggests a range of steps toward sustainability.

“One of the biggest issues business leaders face is sourcing and finding the fit-for-purpose technologies that can support their specific decarbonization needs,” said Dilip Krishna, Deloitte’s global sustainability and climate chief technology officer, in a statement. “As a true enterprise solution for decarbonization, GreenLight Solution is grounded in real world project experience and built on a vision to combine technology, Deloitte services, and an ecosystem of alliances. It is uniquely positioned to tackle this challenge and help our clients feel confident in their ability to take concrete steps to move from strategy to action.”

Deloitte noted that the solution’s launch comes at a critical time for businesses around the world, as the United Nations has set a goal to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. This will require a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, and businesses have a crucial role to play in reaching this target.
