New hires to RSA’s CIO leadership team, as it plans for technological transformation
RSA Insurance has announced the following senior additions to its CIO leadership team (19 January 2023), as it sets off on a new technology transformation roadmap to future-proof its technology, digital and data capabilities:
Sally Ng as Specialty & Commercial Delivery DirectorKatie Hermans as Head of Technology Risk Management
Sally Ng has been appointed as Specialty & Commercial Delivery Director, effective immediately. She’ll be responsible for contributing to the delivery of RSA’s strategic objective to achieve outperformance, by driving the technology transformation roadmap for RSA Commercial Lines, Specialty Lines and European businesses.
Ms. Ng brings with her a wealth of experience in tech-enabled business transformation and wider leadership, having led multiple cross-function transformation initiatives in her previous role as Chief of Staff at DXC Technology, prior to that, in various complex global transformation roles at QBE. Ms. Ng has extensive industry knowledge, with more than 10 years consulting experience, working with major clients including Zurich, ACE, Legal & General, Lloyds Bank (Insurance) and RSA. She’ll also co-chair the organisation’s Women in Tech workstream, which helps to promote and drive increased female representation in technology, digital and data roles.
Katie Hermans will join as Head of Technology Risk Management from 6 February, from Allianz Personal. She’ll be responsible for embedding a risk culture and driving risk improvements across RSA’s cloud, data management and information technology services and providing oversight over their implementation across the organisation.
Having started her career as a software developer, Ms. Hermans progressed into various IT leadership roles at LV=, and brings strong experience of managing IT teams handling risk & governance and delivering complex, multi-year programmes of work.
The appointments of Ms. Ng and Ms. Hermans are in addition to those of Matt Lockie and Toby Harris, who joined in late 2022, as IT Foundations Delivery Director and Strategy and Architecture Director, respectively.
All four colleagues will report into Oliver Holden, Chief Information Officer at RSA, UK&I.
Commenting on the appointments, Mr. Holden said: “Tech and data are central to the delivery of our long-term business strategy and our ambition to use technology to improve service delivery for our customers and partners and make RSA simpler to do business with.
“Having the right team in place is vital if we’re to deliver our five-year transformation roadmap and deliver outperformance across our organisation.
“I’m therefore delighted that Sally and Katie are joining RSA, as we continue to add to our CIO leadership team and set ourselves up for success.”
