Major insurers join icare's claims service provider panel

Allianz Australia (Allianz) and QBE Australia Pacific (QBE) have joined Insurance and Care NSW’s (icare) claims service provider (CSP) panel to support the NSW Nominal Insurer Workers’ Compensation Scheme, subject to contract execution.

As a CSP for icare, Allianz will provide services for the scheme, specifically as a generalist with specialist capabilities CSP, encompassing the management of all claim types and entailing physical and psychological injuries. It will also bring strong capability in providing tailored management of primary psychological claims, which are increasing across the scheme.

“Allianz Australia is pleased to again be appointed as a claim service provider working in partnership with icare and the employers of NSW. This is a recognition of our commitment to making a difference to employers and injured workers and the ongoing dedication of our team here at Allianz,” said Julie Mitchell, chief general manager, personal injury, at Allianz.

As another CSP for icare, QBE will provide claims management and treatment support services to a portfolio of small and medium employers in NSW in addition to the portfolio of large corporate employers who have moved to the insurer since 2020.

“We know every business is unique and that owners want to set themselves up for a better future. We want to support businesses by providing tailored insurance, proactive advice on managing and reducing their specific risks, and now providing claims and treatment support to small business employers and employees in NSW should an incident arise,” said Elliot Hill, managing director, business, at QBE. “We’re pleased to have expanded our relationship with icare so we can be there for SMEs before and after the unexpected.”

icare introduced the panel as part of a new claims model to increase its range of providers, improve performance transparency, and provide greater choice for employers. Aside from Allianz and QBE, Gallagher Bassett (GB) joined the panel to manage a percentage of workers’ compensation claims from more than 300,000 private employers protected by the scheme.
