In August the Aviva Future Leader Programme (FLP) broker delegates met with course mentor Ryan Brown, Group Chief Financial Officer at PIB Group. Ryan is one of the seven industry leading experts who joined the FLP as course mentors. Speaking of his role within the programme, he shared;

“I’m at the stage in my career whereby I’ve spent a lot of time in the industry. I look back on my own time and think about those people who took time to try and help me and who I learnt a lot from. Even now I have my own mentor so I truly understand the value that this perspective can bring to people in their career.”

Mentors on the programme share their experience in business, expertise as brokerage owners and provide guidance and support for specific projects and goals that the delegates undertake whilst on the programme. Our delegates took the opportunity to ask Ryan questions on everything from business and financial reporting to long term planning, acquisitions to raising capital and dealing with investors.

Post session, Ryan commented “As an environment and industry, insurance brokers have relied on entrepreneurial spirit and great leaders coming through and it all starts with lots of smaller brokers. There are some fantastic individuals and some fantastic businesses out there and the stronger they can be, the stronger the industry can be and the better the support our clients will ultimately have.”

Delegates praised the session, with one remarking “Ryan has had a very different career path to many of us. It was great to hear how he has swiftly grown the PIB Group and the ways this was achieved. He shared some really good views on what good leadership and personal development looks like.”
